Care & Maintenance
Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap, and dry immediately — never leave a blade soaking or run it through a dishwasher. Wipe on a light coat of food-grade mineral oil after use to protect the steel, and store it dry in a sheath, knife roll, or on a magnetic strip. A few seconds of care after each use keeps a hand-forged edge true for decades.

Make it truly yours — we can engrave a name, date, monogram, or graphic on most of our blades using a 50-watt fiber laser for crisp, permanent detail.

About this piece
A full-grain leather knife roll built to carry a working set of culinary cutlery from home to kitchen and back. Ten padded slots, a dedicated honing-steel sleeve, a zippered pocket for peelers and small tools, and two suede blade flaps that keep every edge covered when it's rolled. Two buckle straps cinch it tight; a stitched carry handle and detachable shoulder strap get it wherever you're cooking next.

- Full-grain leather exterior with a soft suede interior that won't scratch blades or handles
- 10 slots — 4 full-length for chef, bread, carving and slicing knives, 6 shorter for paring, utility and steak knives
- Dedicated sleeve for a honing steel or sharpening rod
- Zippered interior pocket with brass zip for peelers, tweezers, a Y-peeler or spoon
- Two suede blade flaps fold over the tips so nothing pierces the roll or your hand
- Two adjustable buckle straps with solid brass hardware
- Reinforced carry handle and clip-on shoulder strap with brass snap hooks
- Rolls to roughly the size of a wine bottle; lies flat for storage
- Saddle-stitched with waxed thread; brass rivets at stress points
- Colour: Brown & Black (each hide varies — expect natural grain, scars and pull-up marks)

Culinary students, line cooks, caterers and serious home cooks all run into the same problem: good knives and a loose bag don't mix. A leather roll solves it and looks better every year it's used. It pairs naturally with our chef sets and chef knives, and makes a graduation, first-job or wedding gift that gets used daily rather than shelved.
Leather care is simple: wipe with a damp cloth, let it dry away from direct heat, and condition with a neutral leather balm once or twice a year. Blade care tips are on our knife care page.
FAQ
How many knives does it hold?
Ten knives plus a honing steel. The four long slots comfortably take blades up to 10"/25 cm; the six short slots suit paring, utility and steak knives.
Can I get a custom design?
Yes. Slot count, layout, colour, embossing and overall size can all be changed. Contact us at info@northboundblade.com with your requirements for a quote.
Will the blades cut through the leather?
No. The suede flaps fold over the tips before rolling, and the slots are sized so blades sit flat rather than pushing into the seams.
Does it fit our chef sets?
Yes — every Northbound Blade chef set fits with room to spare.
Can I carry it on a shoulder?
Yes. The detachable strap clips onto the brass D-rings; unclip it when you want a clean handle-carry.
Is the leather real?
Full-grain leather throughout — the top layer of the hide, not split or bonded. It will darken and develop a patina with use.
Does it ship with knives?
Knives are sold separately. Bundle it with a chef set or chef knife at checkout for a complete kit.
