Care & Maintenance
Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap, and dry immediately — never leave a blade soaking or run it through a dishwasher. Wipe on a light coat of food-grade mineral oil after use to protect the steel, and store it dry in a sheath, knife roll, or on a magnetic strip. A few seconds of care after each use keeps a hand-forged edge true for decades.

About this piece
Six hand-forged eating knives for the long table.
A set of six medieval-style eating knives, made for sharing a meal: slicing roast meat, bread and cheese at the table. Each knife is forged from a single piece of carbon steel, so the blade and the handle are one.
- One piece of carbon steel: the blade runs straight into the handle. There are no scales, pins or glue to come loose.
- Rope-twist loop handles: each handle is twisted and bent into a loop by hand, then finished with a small curl. No two are exactly alike.
- Satin blades with a plain, straight cutting edge.
- Leather sheath included.
- Free engraving: up to 20 characters on the blades or on the leather sheath. Engraving adds 2 business days, and engraved pieces are final sale.
Size (approximate, per knife): about 7 in (18 cm) overall, with a blade of about 3.5 in (9 cm). Every knife is forged by hand, so sizes vary slightly.
What's included: 6 eating knives and a leather sheath.
Made to order: each set is forged after you order.
Care: carbon steel can rust if it is left wet. Hand wash, dry right away, and wipe the steel with a little food-safe oil now and then. Not for the dishwasher.
Simple habits keep hand-forged steel at its best. See our Knife Care guide.
01 — Forged
Shaped at the anvil
Bar stock is heated and hammered to shape by hand — every bevel drawn out at the anvil, never stamped from a sheet.
02 — Tempered
Hardened true
Each blade is hardened and tempered in controlled cycles, balancing a keen, hard edge with a resilient spine.
03 — Finished
Fitted & inspected
Ground, polished and fitted with its handle, then inspected edge to pommel before it ever leaves the forge.
