Care & Maintenance
Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap, and dry immediately — never leave a blade soaking or run it through a dishwasher. Wipe on a light coat of food-grade mineral oil after use to protect the steel, and store it dry in a sheath, knife roll, or on a magnetic strip. A few seconds of care after each use keeps a hand-forged edge true for decades.

Add free engraving with the option above — up to 20 characters on the blade, or engrave the leather sheath. Adds 2 business days. Engraved pieces are final sale. For any other engraving request, email us at info@northboundblade.com.

From the forge
About this piece
A hand-forged chef's knife with a tall heel and full-length cutting edge, built for everyday kitchen work — chopping, slicing, and mincing. The blade is finished with a dark forged patina fading into a bright, mirror-polished edge.
The handle is cast in a vivid green, red, and white swirled resin with brass pins, giving each piece a distinctive, one-of-a-kind look.
The details: D2 steel (60–62 HRC) — semi-stainless tool steel with excellent wear resistance and edge retention, easier to maintain than a full carbon steel blade. Full tang construction, tall heel, forged patina fading to mirror-polished edge. Cast resin handle, brass pins. Hand wash, dry immediately, light coat of oil.
A gift worth giving: A lower-maintenance everyday chef knife with a genuinely eye-catching handle — a smart gift for a cook who wants something distinctive without fussing over carbon-steel upkeep.
Every piece leaves the forge ready for a lifetime of use — our Knife Care guide covers the few simple habits that keep a hand-forged edge that way.
FAQ
Is this dishwasher safe? No — hand wash only, dry immediately, and apply a light coat of oil.
Why D2 steel instead of carbon steel? D2 is a semi-stainless tool steel with excellent edge retention and better corrosion resistance than plain carbon steel — a practical choice for a knife you'll use daily.
What does "full tang" mean, and why does it matter? The blade steel runs the full length of the handle in one piece — better balance and durability for everyday use.
