Dimensions & Weight

Care & Maintenance
Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap, and dry immediately — never leave a blade soaking or run it through a dishwasher. Wipe on a light coat of food-grade mineral oil after use to protect the steel, and store it dry in a sheath, knife roll, or on a magnetic strip. A few seconds of care after each use keeps a hand-forged edge true for decades.
Personalisation & Engraving
Make it truly yours — we can engrave a name, date, monogram, or graphic on most of our blades using a 50-watt fiber laser for crisp, permanent detail.
Simply send us your engraving details by email after placing your order and we'll take care of the rest.
Shipping & Returns
Every order ships tracked across Canada and the USA, with free shipping on orders over $150. In-stock pieces leave the shop within a few business days; made-to-order pieces take a little longer, and we'll keep you posted along the way.
If something isn't right when it arrives, reach out to our team — we review every return request with care and will always work with you to make it right.

From the forge
About this piece
A rectangular, butcher-style culinary cleaver with a tanto-point tip and forged hanging hole — built for serious portioning, splitting joints, and heavy chopping. The blade is hand-forged Damascus steel, folded and shaped to reveal a dense mosaic of ring and swirl patterns across the face — no two blades alike.
The handle pairs a warm wood bolster with a striking blue-and-grey swirled resin grip, capped with a brass bolster and brass pins for a distinctive, collector-grade look.
The details: Damascus steel (58–62 HRC) — hand-forged layered steel folded to reveal a dense mosaic ring pattern. Full tang construction, rectangular butcher-cleaver profile with tanto tip and hanging hole. Two-tone wood-and-resin handle with brass bolster and pins. Includes hand-stitched leather sheath. Hand wash, dry immediately, light coat of food-grade oil.
A gift worth giving: The mosaic Damascus pattern and brass-bolstered handle make this as much a display piece as a working tool — a strong pick for the cook or collector who wants something with genuine presence on the block.
Every piece leaves the forge ready for a lifetime of use — our Knife Care guide covers the few simple habits that keep a hand-forged edge that way.
FAQ
Is this dishwasher safe? No — hand wash only, dry immediately, and apply a light coat of food-grade oil to protect the Damascus pattern.
What's the hole in the blade for? A forged hanging hole — handy for storing the cleaver on a hook or magnetic strip.
What does "full tang" mean, and why does it matter? The blade steel runs the full length of the handle in one solid piece — important for a cleaver, which takes real chopping force.
Does it come with a sheath? Yes — every Northbound Blade knife ships with a leather sheath included.
